Xtras is a new and vibrant casting agency providing opportunities in the television industry. We supply supporting artiste roles for two of the UK’s leading TV soaps, Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Our agency has established a strong reputation for supplying professional and talented artists for supporting and walk-on roles, regularly collaborating with television casting teams such as ITV.
We believe in every individual we represent, which is why we maintain a small, carefully selected pool of artists. This allows us to focus on finding the most relevant roles and projects for those on our books. Our selection process is highly selective to ensure we remain committed to our artists’ success.

MEET THE TEAM
DAVID DOWTHWAITE: CO-DIRECTOR
David has over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry, working as an actor, stand-in artist and supporting artist.
Production credits include DCI Banks, Emmerdale, Coronation street, Sherlock Holmes, At home with the Braithwaites, September Song, The Russ Abbott Show, Smokescreen, Band of Gold and Heartbeat.
David is one of the co-founders of Xtras and has been working closely with ITV casting teams, providing supporting artists for productions such as Emmerdale and Coronation Street, whilst consistently developing new relationships with more production companies across the UK.
STEVEN HODGKISS: CO-DIRECTOR
Steven Hodgkiss has led a dynamic and varied life. In the early 1980s, Steven owned a fitness club before embarking on a distinguished 22-year career as a Royal Marine Commando, specialising as an Armourer. After leaving the Marines in 2009, Steven spent 12 years in Maritime Security, providing armed protection to merchant ships in the Middle East.
Transitioning from the security sector, Steven joined a casting agency and began working on the UK’s leading soap, Emmerdale, in 2021. In early 2024, seizing a new opportunity, Steven co-founded Xtras Casting Agency Ltd with David Dowthwaite, a lifelong friend from school.
